Discharge coming up

Coming home from hospital in the next day or two?

Phone us with the discharge date and what the care team has recommended. We book delivery to arrive before the patient does, whether they are leaving Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Rockyview General Hospital or South Health Campus. Same-day delivery depends on stock and the time you call, so the earlier the better.

How renting with us works

Four steps, and a real person on the phone for all of them.

Two delivery workers, seen from behind, wheel boxed hospital bed sections up a short concrete walkway to the front door of a vinyl-sided Calgary house.
Equipment arriving at the front door
  1. 1

    Tell us what is needed

Call or book online with the equipment the care team recommended, the address and the date. Not sure what you need? We ask the right questions: weight, room size, stairs, who is helping.

  2. 2

We confirm model, rate and time

We match a model rated for the user, confirm the monthly rate and book a delivery window that lands before the patient gets home.

  3. 3

    Delivered, set up and explained

We carry it in, assemble it where it is needed, test every function and walk the patient and caregivers through safe use.

  4. 4

    Extend, swap or return

Needs change as recovery goes on. Extend month to month, switch to different equipment, or call and we will pick it up.

For OTs, PTs and discharge planners

Send the recommendation once and we handle the rest: stock confirmation, the call to the family, delivery before discharge and setup to your notes. We let you know when the equipment is in.

Insurance and funding, explained

Plain-language guides to claiming a rental, and to using one while you wait for funded equipment.

Delivering across Calgary and the surrounding area

From downtown condo towers to acreages in Springbank and Bragg Creek, and to the towns with their own hospitals in High River, Strathmore and Diamond Valley.

Questions families ask before renting

How fast can you deliver a hospital bed in Calgary?
Phone as soon as you have a discharge date. When the equipment is in stock and you call early enough in the day, we can often deliver the same day; otherwise we book the earliest window before the patient comes home. Tell us the hospital and the discharge date and we will say plainly what is possible.
Do you set the equipment up, or just drop it off?
We set it up. Beds are assembled in the room you choose, lifts and chairs are tested with their controls, and we show the patient and caregivers how everything works before we leave. When the rental ends we come back, take it apart and remove it.
How is rental equipment cleaned between customers?
Every item goes through the same 10-step process before it goes out again, including inspection, cleaning, disinfection with a Health Canada DIN-registered disinfectant, a function and safety check, and sealed packaging for mattresses and slings. The detail is on our cleaning and safety standards page.
Will my insurance pay for a hospital bed rental?
It depends on your plan. Some extended health plans include medical equipment, usually with conditions such as a prescription or pre-approval, and plans differ on whether renting qualifies. Ask your insurer before you rent. We give you an itemized receipt to claim with, and our guides to Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, WCB Alberta and AADL list the questions to ask.
How long is the minimum rental?
Rentals are billed by the month. Many people rent for a few weeks after surgery or while waiting for equipment to be funded; others rent for many months. Extend by phone when you need to, and call when you are ready for us to pick it up.
Do you work with occupational therapists and discharge planners?
Yes. OTs, physiotherapists, home care case managers and hospital discharge planners can send a request through our clinician forms. We confirm with the referrer, arrange delivery with the family and let the referrer know when the equipment is in.
