Delivering to Airdrie
Home Medical Equipment Rental in Airdrie
Airdrie has grown faster than anywhere else we deliver: 74,100 people in the 2021 census and 90,044 in the city’s 2025 count. It still has no hospital of its own. So when someone in Airdrie needs a hospital bed, a lift chair or a patient lift at home, the hospital stay was usually in Calgary, and the equipment has to be ready in Airdrie before the car pulls into the driveway.
We rent home medical equipment by the month and bring it up from our downtown Calgary address, about 35 km away. The crew carries it in, sets it up in the room you choose, shows whoever will be helping how it works, and comes back for it when the need is over. For a discharge, give us the date and the address, and we plan the delivery to arrive first.
Coming home from
-
Airdrie Community Health Centre
At 604 Main Street S, in town. Its urgent care offers 24-hour service, seven days a week, holidays included, and Home Care is listed here. It is an urgent care centre, not a hospital.
-
Peter Lougheed Centre
The closest hospital to Airdrie, about 29.5 km or 27 minutes away in NE Calgary. It lists inpatient orthopedics, a geriatric consultation service and a transition team for patients leaving acute care.
-
Foothills Medical Centre
About 33 km or 34 minutes from Airdrie. Its stroke unit and its spinal cord injury, brain injury and amputee rehabilitation clinics are the programs most likely to send someone home needing a lift or a bed.
Going home to Airdrie
The drive from our downtown address to Airdrie takes about 33 minutes with no traffic. That is short enough that a delivery on the morning of a discharge is often possible when the equipment is in stock and you call early. Rush hour on the way north stretches the trip, so we build the delivery window around the time of day, then confirm it with you by phone. If the discharge date moves, which happens, tell us as soon as the ward tells you, and we move the delivery with it.
Before your family member leaves Peter Lougheed or Foothills, ask the transition team whether a home care referral has been made. Home Care is listed at the Airdrie Community Health Centre, and Community Care Access is the central intake for Calgary Zone Home Care. Anyone can make the referral as long as the person agrees. A home care visit sometimes changes what the care team recommends, so we suggest booking the essentials for discharge day and calling us if the plan shifts. A monthly rental leaves room for that.
Homes here, and what fits in them
Airdrie’s housing is mostly houses: in the 2021 census, 65% of occupied homes were single-detached, 15% were row houses and 12% were apartments under five storeys. Only about 45 units were in buildings of five storeys or more. So the obstacle we plan around here is rarely a tower elevator. It is the staircase. In a two-storey house or a row house, the bedrooms are often upstairs, and a bed that goes up there means every trip to the kitchen and back is a climb. Many families choose a main-floor room instead, such as a den, a dining room or the corner of a living room, and we help you measure it before delivery.
Newer homes often have an attached garage with a step up into the house, plus a few steps at the front door. A threshold ramp can cover a single step or a door sill. Two or three front steps call for a modular aluminum ramp, which stands on base feet and needs no concrete. If you live in a row house or a building with a condo board, check with the board before a ramp goes in. The 2021 census also counted 180 movable dwellings in Airdrie, and for those we ask about the entry height and hallway widths up front.
