Delivering to Chestermere

Medical Equipment Rentals for Chestermere Homes

Chestermere is built around a lake on Calgary’s eastern edge, and it is growing fast: 22,163 people in the 2021 census and 32,255 in the city’s 2025 count. What it does not have is urgent care. The Chestermere Community Health Centre lists laboratory, public health and children’s rehabilitation services, but no urgent care, so when a Chestermere resident needs an emergency department, the practical one is Peter Lougheed Centre in NE Calgary.

That short hop west is also why Chestermere is one of the easiest places for us to reach. It is the closest community outside Calgary to our downtown address, about 22 km and 25 minutes away. We deliver hospital beds, lifts, lift chairs, scooters and ramps, set them up and collect them at the end of the rental.

Coming home from

  • Peter Lougheed Centre

The practical emergency department for Chestermere, about 16.2 km or 18 minutes from the city centre. It lists a Neuromuscular Respiratory Clinic, inpatient orthopedics and a geriatric consultation service.

  • South Health Campus

About 29 km or 28 minutes south-west. Its ALS Clinic and Hip and Knee Clinic serve patients who may need a bed, a lift or a ramp afterwards.

  • Strathmore District Health Services

About 34.7 km or 29 minutes east on the Trans-Canada, roughly the same drive as South Health Campus, with an emergency department that is always open.

  • Chestermere Community Health Centre

At 288 Kinniburgh Boulevard. Alberta Health Services lists lab, public health, immunization and pediatric rehabilitation here, but no urgent care and no home care office.

Going home to Chestermere

From Peter Lougheed Centre, the trip home to Chestermere is about 18 minutes, the shortest hospital-to-home drive of the commuter cities we serve. Our crew is only about 25 minutes away from downtown, too, so a same-day delivery is more realistic here than in the towns farther out, provided the equipment is in stock and you call early in the day. If the discharge is from South Health Campus or Strathmore instead, nothing changes for us: we still deliver to your Chestermere address and plan the window around the discharge time.

Because the Chestermere health centre does not list home care, the referral starts elsewhere. Peter Lougheed Centre lists a transition services team for patients leaving acute care, and they are the people to ask before discharge. You can also call Community Care Access, the central intake for Calgary Zone Home Care, and ask which office covers your address. Anyone can make the referral, as long as the person receiving care agrees.

Homes here, and what fits in them

About 80% of Chestermere’s occupied homes were single-detached in 2021, one of the highest shares of any place we serve, with 9% row houses, 8% semi-detached and just 3% in low-rise apartments. There are no buildings of five storeys or more. In practice we are almost always delivering to a house, and the questions are about steps at the entry and stairs inside. Where the bedrooms are on the upper floor, a hospital bed set up in a main-floor office or family room avoids the stairs for the first weeks home.

Homes near the water raise their own questions. A house that opens toward the lake may have its easiest level entry at a back deck or a patio door rather than at the front, and a threshold ramp over that door track can be all a wheelchair needs. Where the only entrance is up a set of front steps, a modular aluminum ramp can run down the walkway or onto the driveway on base feet, with no concrete. We look at the rise, the door swing and the landing space before recommending one.

Discharge coming up

Coming home from hospital in the next day or two?

Phone us with the discharge date and what the care team has recommended. We book delivery to arrive before the patient does, whether they are leaving Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Rockyview General Hospital or South Health Campus. Same-day delivery depends on stock and the time you call, so the earlier the better.

Equipment rentals in Chestermere: questions

Is there urgent care in Chestermere?
Alberta Health Services lists no urgent care at the Chestermere Community Health Centre on Kinniburgh Boulevard. The nearest emergency department is Peter Lougheed Centre, about 18 minutes away, with South Health Campus and Strathmore District Health Services each about 28 to 29 minutes. Call 911 in an emergency.
Can you deliver to Chestermere the same day?
Often, yes. Chestermere is about 25 minutes from our downtown address, closer than any other community outside Calgary we serve. Same-day delivery depends on the equipment being in stock and on calling early, so phone as soon as you know you need it.
Do you add a delivery charge for Chestermere?
When you book, we confirm whether there is any delivery charge for your Chestermere address, along with the monthly rate and the delivery window.
Our lake house has steps at the front and a patio door at the back. Which ramp do we need?
Start by measuring both. If the patio door has only a sill or a low step to a level deck or patio, a threshold ramp there may be enough. If the front steps are the only practical route, measure from the ground to the top of the door threshold: at the 1:12 guideline, each inch of rise needs about a foot of ramp. Send us the numbers and photos, and we will suggest a layout.
My husband is at Strathmore District Health Services, not a Calgary hospital. Can you still deliver?
Yes. We deliver to your home in Chestermere whichever hospital he is leaving. Give us the discharge date and roughly what time he is expected home, and we will book a delivery window that gets the equipment in place first.
